Shabbat morning services are held on Saturdays in the Gross Family Chapel, beginning at 9:15 a.m., in person or via ZOOM.
On alternate weeks, Rabbi Lipton offers a congregational Torah Study. This is a unique way to interactively discuss and understand Parshat HaShavuah (our weekly Torah Portion) through the lens of classic and contemporary commentators alike. During our study together, we look for a variety of ways to personally connect with traditional texts, and search for meanings that might be applied to our daily lives. These Torah Study sessions begin immediately before the Torah Reading (around 10:15 a.m.) and are approximately 20-30 minutes in length. No prior knowledge of the weekly portion is necessary to fully participate in the conversation!
Join us once a month for a family-friendly, Friday evening experience called Friday Night with Friends: A Musical Service. Music is a powerful tool that invites participation and creates an accessible framework for reflection and engagement. Together, we celebrate the beginning of Shabbat in a participatory, joyful way, with a Kabbalat Shabbat service, followed by a potluck Shabbat dinner.
What makes our “Friday Night with Friends” service so engaging? It might be the musical arrangements (with keyboard and percussion) blending familiar with new congregational Shabbat melodies. You may be moved by our talented musicians or you might be inspired by the short, thought provoking divrei tefillah (words about prayer) that we explore together. Or, perhaps it is the delicious and leisurely potluck Shabbat dinner you share with your family and old and new friends – a meal filled with the warmth of community and wonderful conversation.
Friday Night with Friends can transform and expand your Beth El Shabbat experience while nurturing ongoing relationships and making new friends.
One Saturday a month, we offer a Shabbat service geared towards our youngest congregants and their families (newborn through age 5). It is an opportunity to experience Shabbat through songs, stories and Kiddush. Movement and fun are a big part of this program; you and your children will not sit still.
Jr. Congregation is a Shabbat experience for school age children. Every service has a special “kid friendly” theme, student leaders and games. Jr. Congregation combines the best of friendship and fun, while learning to participate and lead portions of the Shabbat service.
